Tournament rules


1.      This rapid chess tournament will be played under Swiss system up to nine rounds from March 15th to 16th. Each player will have 25 minutes for the each game.

 

2.      The tournament will be played at Paz de Ziganda Ikastola (Villava, Navarra, Spain).

 

3.      Schedule:

1st round: day 15, 11-11’50.

2nd round: day 15, 12’15-13’05.

3rd round: day 15, 13’30-14’20.

4th round: day 15, 17-17’50.

5th round: day 15, 18’15-19’05.

6th round: day 15, 19’30-20’20.

7th round: day 16, 10-10’50.

8th round: day 16, 11’15-12’05.

9th round: day 16, 12’30-13’20.

 

4.      The double withdrawal of a player or a single unjustified withdrawal will cause the elimination of the tournament. It will be ability of the Organization to eliminate the player that withdraws to the first round.

 

5.      For first round pairings, the players will be sorted according to their FIDE and national or regional rating, then alphabetically.

 

6.      During the first round, the participants in the tournament will choose four players that will be part of the Appeals Committee; two of those players will substitute the holder players in those cases in wich they are implied.

 

7.      All complaint to a ruling of the arbiter will be given by writing to the Appeals Committee and at most one hour after the end of the beat in which the fact object of the complaint took place. The rulings of this Committee will be firm to all the effects.

 

8.      The Appeals Committee will be integrated by:

a.       Two regular players and two substitutes.

b.      The Tournament Director (substitute: organizational representative).

The Tournament Director will act as Chairman of this Committee.

 

9.      Analysis won't be allowed in the playing room.

 

10.  The players who intend to leave the playing room during their games to tell it to some arbiter.

 

11.  The pairings, that will be carried out by computer means, will be published at playing venue.

 

12.  Claimings to the pairings will be assisted just in case the claimed game supposes: 

a.       to play again against the same opponent or

b.      to play with the same color for third serial time (except in the last round) or

c.       to play with a color three times more than with the other one (except in the last round).

And whenever it is presented as maximum five minutes after having been made public.

 

13.  The registration fee will be paid to the organizers before the first round or in its course and the player that didn't fulfill this requirement, could be eliminated from the tournament.

 

14.  The tie-breaks to determine the final ranking will be:

a.       Bucholz excepting the worst rival.

b.      Result between tied players.

c.       Bucholz.

d.      Opponents’ ratings’ average (no rated = 1800)..

e.       Number of victories.

 

15.  The prizes will surrender entirely according to the position occupied in the final ranking.

 

16.  This tournament will be governed by the present Rules, the Laws of the Chess and by the current regulation of FIDE, rules to which all the players are subject during the development of the tournament.
